An annual party thrown by Mayor Rob Ford and his councillor brother Doug drew thousands of people Friday night.

The 13th annual Ford Fest was held outdoors at Centennial Park in Etobicoke.

The free barbecue offered enough hot dogs and hamburgers to feed thousands of city residents, free T-shirts, midway games and musical performances.

“We are expecting well over 15,000 people, if not 20,000,” Ford told reporters. “You are all welcome. We are going to have a good time.”

Ford supporter Greg Peddle, who believes the mayor has followed through on his campaign promises, was one of the thousands who showed up.

“He told you what he was going to do when he got in power, and he’s done it … which is rare for a politician these days,” Peddle told CP24.

As for the scandals that have dogged the mayor, Peddle thinks they have been overblown.

“He’s a good man. People make mistakes,” Peddle said.

The annual Ford Fest is usually held in Ford’s mother’s backyard, but the event was moved to Centennial Park this year after 7,000 people attended last year.

Friday's event marked the first time the Fords have held two parties in one year.

The first Ford Fest of 2013 was held at Thomson Memorial Park in Scarborough in July. It was the first time the event was held in Scarborough.
