Toronto Police say one of its own civilian employees has been charged after it was found that an internal police database was illegally accessed back in 2014.

Investigators allege that in February and September 2014, a suspect conducted unauthorized searches of internal police files that “were not for police business.”

A suspect identified as Erin Manaran, 28, of Thornhill has been charged with two counts of breach of trust.

Police say the accused was a temporary clerk with the service and had worked there for three years.

She is scheduled to appear in court at 2201 Finch Avenue West on Aug. 26 at 1:30 p.m.
