York Regional Police are looking for a suspect after a man armed with a hammer robbed a Woodbridge convenience store.

Police were called to the store on Islington Avenue, north of Highway 7, shortly after 6 p.m. on May 14.

According to police, a suspect wearing a ski mask entered the store, threatened an employee with a hammer and then demanded cash. The suspect grabbed the till from the cash register, took the employee’s cellphone and then got into a vehicle and fled the area.

The employee was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

The suspect is described as a white male between 20 and 30 years of age with a heavy build. The suspect vehicle is described as a silver Kia Forte
