A 23-year-old woman has been taken to hospital in non-life threatening condition following a shooting in Rexdale.

Police say the woman was in a vehicle near Queens Plate and Nearctic drives at around 11:30 a.m. when she was shot in the buttocks area by a group of three unidentified suspects.

Police say that their preliminary investigation suggests that the woman was not alone in the vehicle at the time, though it is not clear who she was with.

Reports from the scene indicate that the exterior of the vehicle was riddled with six or seven visible bullet holes.

The suspects, police say, were travelling in a black four-door sedan with a model year between 2005 and 2007. They are described as black males who were wearing dark clothing and dark jeans.

Witness accounts vary on whether the suspects fled in the vehicle or on foot.

Police are also investigating a separate shooting nearby on Tandridge Crescent on Monday morning; however it is not clear whether the two incidents may be related.

According to police, a suspect shot at a parked car and then ran away on foot.

No injuries were reported as a result of the shooting.
