An Alabama woman who shot and killed her husband of fifteen years told police he kept coming into her room and ‘bothering her.’

An Alabama woman has been charged with murder after authorities say she admitted to shooting her husband because she was annoyed by him.

According to WVTM13, a news affiliate based out of Birmingham, Ala., 65-year-old Sherri Clutts told investigators she became frustrated because her husband, Timothy Clutts, repeatedly entered her room to check on her while she recovered from surgery two weeks prior.

Investigators said Sherri Clutts retrieved a gun in anticipation of her husband returning to the room. When he did not come back, authorities allege she walked into the living room, found him sitting in a recliner and shot him once.

He died from the gunshot wound to the chest.

Franklin County Sheriff Shannon Oliver said Sherri Clutts admitted right away that she had shot and killed her husband of 15 years, claiming she was annoyed by him.

‘She was pretty open, which leads us to a bunch of questions. What might have been going on with her?” Oliver said in an interview with WVTM13.

“We need to know the history and what led up to the shooting,” Oliver added.

Officials also noted there were no known domestic violence calls connected to the couple in recent years.

Sheri Clutts remains in custody without bond as the investigation is ongoing, according to WVTM13.
