CALEDON - A $50,000 reward is being offered for information that helps solve the killing and dismemberment of a man whose remains were found scattered in central Ontario.

Morris Conte, 45, was last seen May 21, 2010, in Caledon, about 60 kilometres northwest of Toronto.

Some of the Bolton, Ont., man's remains were found the next morning in the Sugarbush area of Oro-Medonte Township, north of Barrie, provincial police said Monday.

A resident walking on Valley Woods Drive saw what appeared to be human remains and reported the gruesome find to police.

Later that afternoon, more than 100 kilometres from the first site, a person walking on Maplehurst Road in Lake of Bays Township, east of Huntsville, discovered more human remains.

"At both of those locations, the human remains were left in such a manner that they were meant to have been found," Const. Peter Leon said Monday.

Post-mortem examinations by the coroner and toxicology testing at the Centre of Forensic Science in Toronto determined that both sets of remains were from the same person.

On May 28, 2010, an employee working for a paving company found human remains on the shoulder of Stoneleigh Road, south of Muskoka Road 117 between Bracebridge and Baysville.

Those remains were also found to belong to the same person as the remains found six days earlier, investigators said.

Conte's mother, Maria Conte, made a tearful appeal Monday in Caledon for the recovery of all of her son's remains.

"Help us bring Morris home so that we can get the proper burial that he deserves," Conte said.

Investigators said they are confident the case can be solved and are hoping the $50,000 reward will prompt someone to come forward with information.
