NEW YORK - Canadian Vasek Pospisil has booked a spot in the second round of the U.S. Open.

The native of Vernon, B.C., dispatched Lukas Rosol of the Czech Republic 6-1, 6-2, 6-1 on Wednesday.

Pospisil earned his way into the men's draw through qualifying.

The 21-year-old is the lone Canadian singles player left in the tournament.
