TORONTO - The world premiere of Jason Reitman's new comedy starring George Clooney is among eight films newly announced for this year's Toronto International Film Festival.

The crop of films, of which four will be gala presentations, come from the United Kingdom, India, France, Iceland, the United States and Germany.

"Up in the Air," directed by Montreal's Reitman, features Clooney as a corporate downsizing expert who falls for a woman while trying to reach 10 million frequent flyer miles on his business travels.

The galas include the English football story "The Damned United" directed by Tom Hooper, the cricket comedy "Dil Bole Hadippa" directed by Anurag Singh, the fantasy "Micmacs" directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet, and the romantic comedy, "What's Your Raashee?" directed by Ashutosh Gowariker.

Also screening are "The Good Heart" from director Dagur Kari, "The Hole" directed by Joe Dante, and "Soul Kitchen" directed by Fatih Akin.

The festival runs Sept. 10 to 19.
