Kerry Joseph and the Toronto Argonauts faced a stormy reception in Regina Sunday.

The 2007 Grey Cup winners beat the Argonauts 28-22 in a game which saw the return of former Roughriders quarterback Kerry Joseph to Mosaic stadium in Saskatchewan.

The game wasn't without incident. A sudden storm, complete with lighting and hail, forced a 40-minute delay after the first quarter.

The Riders (5-0) came from behind and clinched the game on a one-yard touchdown run by Wes Cates. It's also the first time the team has won five straight games since 1934.

Joseph, who was traded to Toronto in the off-season, was cheered loudly by his former team's fans while accepting a pre-game award for leadership and community involvement with the Riders.

"It's different (being on the other sideline)," says Joseph. "You just have to try and take their momentum away. I appreciate what they did for me ... but I just wanted to play football."

The Argos led the game 4-0 following a first quarter field goal from kicker Mike Vanderjagt. Joseph added to the lead with a touchdown run three minutes into the second quarter after the storm delay.

Saskatchewan fought back with a 31-yard touchdown and a 46-yard field goal from Luca Congi.

The team pressed on with a Cates touchdown and another Congi field goal. However, it was Vanderjagt that crept Toronto back into a 22-20 lead with a 41-yard field goal.

In the end, it was Cates' one-yard rushing touchdown which pushed the Riders into the lead before Jamie Boreham rounded out the scoring with a 56-yard kick.

But the Riders have a price to pay for the win - quarterback Darian Durant reportedly suffered broken ribs and receiver Andy Fantuz broke his fibula in the third quarter.

Toronto falls to 2-3 with the loss, but the team stays tied for the lead in the league's East division with Montreal.

"(Joseph) put up 20-some points and that should be enough for us to win most days," said Argos head coach Rich Stubler. "We just didn't play well enough on the other side of the ball."

Toronto plays the Winnipeg Blue Bombers Friday.
