Jamie Gutfreund joined CP24 in August 2008 and since then has played a vital role on the CP24 team in a number of areas, starting as an editorial assistant, then moving to business producer where he ran the studio at the Toronto Stock Exchange, producing hourly segments at the height of the 2008 global economic meltdown. Jamie then moved on to reporting traffic, weather and news, before joining the "CP24 Breakfast" team as a live-eye reporter for a decade. Jamie also hosted and anchored "CP24 Breakfast Weekend" for more than five years, having interviewed thousand of artists, musicians, and other notable newsmakers. He is an award-winning anchor and reporter and has covered some of the GTHA’s most compelling stories, including the G20 riots in Toronto, the Toronto van attack trial, the sexual assault trial of Jacob Hoggard, as well as a number of municipal, provincial, and federal elections. Having graduated with honours from the Seneca College broadcast journalism program, Jamie started his career at the Canadian Broadcast Corporation (CBC) working behind the scenes in various editorial positions. He was also a journalism professor at his alma mater, Seneca College, from 2017 to 2019. Jamie is also a proud member of the Jewish community. As the grandson of Holocaust survivors, Jamie has demonstrated a strong commitment and dedication to representing his community and addressing the alarming rise of hate and antisemitism in Toronto. Over the years, Jamie has also volunteered hundreds of hours to hosting and participating in a number of charitable initiatives. Jamie is based in Toronto. He is also widely known for his musical talents, having played in several rocks bands in the Toronto music scene for nearly three decades. He is currently the lead guitarist in the popular Toronto cover band "In Living Cover," which he has been performing with since 2010. Jamie speaks English.
