Sijia Liu is an anchor and reporter for CP24, specializing in breaking news and guiding viewers through major headlines both locally and internationally. Alongside her focus on hard-hitting news, Liu is passionate about sharing positive and uplifting stories. Before joining CP24 in May 2024, Liu held various anchoring and reporting positions at CTV News Kitchener, CTV News Windsor, and Global News. During her tenure in Kitchener, her investigative reporting on the high number of sexual assault cases dismissed due to staffing shortages and courtroom closures earned her a 2023 RTDNA nomination for enterprise reporting. She was also one of the first reporters on the scene during the unprecedented Ambassador Bridge shutdown, where protesters blocked border entry during the COVID-19 pandemic. Her continuous coverage with the CTV News Windsor team of the blockade was nominated for an RTDNA award in the Breaking News category. Liu has a strong interest in sports journalism, having reported for the New England Sports Network and the Ontario Hockey League. She also spent time in Atlanta, Georgia as one of five women selected for the Rising Media Stars sports reporting program. Born in China, Liu immigrated to Canada with her family at the age of four. Raised in Toronto, she attended Seneca College and York University, where she was a member of the women’s varsity basketball team. She is fluent in English and conversant in Mandarin. In her spare time, Liu enjoys working out, watching football, travelling, and meeting new people.
