Vancouver Whitecaps fans will get their chance to watch superstar Thierry Henry when the New York Red Bulls make their first Major League Soccer visit to Empire field on May 28.

Other important Whitecap home games on the MLS schedule, released Thursday, include David Beckham and the L.A. Galaxy on July 30.

The Whitecaps will open their inaugural MLS season March 19 when they host Canadian rival Toronto FC.

Toronto's first match at BMO Field will be March 26 against Portland.

Five of Toronto's first seven matches will be played at home, including the Galaxy on April 13. The Whitecaps will travel to Toronto June 29 and New York visits Oct. 1.

Each of the 18 MLS teams will play 34 matches, facing each of the other clubs once at home and once on the road.

Toronto will end its regular season at home Oct. 22 against New England.

Meanwhile, Gianluca Zavarise scored the lone goal for Toronto FC in a 3-1 loss to Dinamo Zagreb on Thursday.

It was Toronto's first defeat of the Major League Soccer pre-season. Toronto trailed 2-0 at halftime after the Croatian side scored in the first and eighth minutes.

Zavarise, a Canadian midfielder on trial with Toronto, made an immediate impact as a second-half substitute. He scored just a minute after the break when Jacob Peterson raced down the wing and sent a low cross into the box. Zavarise held the ball up, turned and fired to score.

Toronto pressured Zagreb for the tying goal, but Zagreb scored on a penalty kick in the 81st minute, awarded after a foul by Matt Stinson.

Toronto was missing captain Dwayne De Rosario and Adrian Cann. They played in Canada's 1-0 loss to Greece the previous day and arrived back in camp just an hour before kickoff.
