Thousands continue to line the streets on Saturday as the Olympic torch makes its way to the Golden Horsehoe from the GTA.

Carolyn Chomolok had the honour of taking the torch first this morning as it began the day outside Brampton City Hall. From there, it made its way up Main Street, lighting the morning sky, and the Canadian Olympic spirit with each step.

Mississauga Mayor Hazel McCallion proved she could keep up with the younger torch bearers as she ran with the flame on Burnhamthorpe Road. Hundreds of supporters cheered the 88-year-old who jogged about 400 metres before passing on the flame.

We have continuous coverage of the torch's journey through Southern Ontario with live detailed traffic updates throughout the day.

The torch will be covering quite a bit of territory on Saturday. It's gone through Georgetown, Acton, Milton, Etobicoke and Mississauga.

The torch run will pass through Oakville and Burlington this afternoon, before finishing the day in Hamilton.

On Friday, the torch was carried through about 10 communities before winding down the week in Brampton. It passed through Aurora, Newmarket, Keswick, Bradford, Bolton, Kleinburg and Vaughan.
