MONTREAL - The net into which Sidney Crosby scored the overtime goal to give Canada the hockey gold at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics is not for sale after all.

Classic Auctions was set to take bids on the net, but the Vancouver Olympic Games Organizing Committee stepped in, and the historic piece of memorabilia will be donated to the Hockey Hall of Fame.

VANOC executive vice-president Terry Wright says many items were auctioned off after the Games and he assumed the net had already been sold.

He says it was quite exciting to find out that it hadn't gone to a collector last year.

Classic Auctions announced this week it would take bids until March 29th on the net.

But the Delson, Quebec, company says the notice will be removed from its website.
