Menorah lighting ceremony marks the start of Hanukkah

The 8 day Jewish Festival of Lights sees an additional candle lit on the menorah lit everyday. It marks the rededication of the Temple in Jerusalem 2 thousand years ago after a small group of Jewish fighters liberated it. It represents the triumph of light over darkness.
