TORONTO - UFC president Dana White has shot down reports that Toronto will be the site of light-heavyweight champion Jon (Bones) Jones' title defence against Rashad Evans.
After a flurry of reports, White noted on Twitter that "Evans has pins in his thumb and is out for a while!!!!"
UFC 140 is slated for Dec. 10 at Toronto's Rogers Centre. The main event has yet to be announced.
The Jones-Evans showdown represents a grudge match between the present and former champion.
Jones got his chance at the title in the place of an injured Evans and made the most of it, dethroning Mauricio (Shogun) Rua at UFC 128 in March.
Evans, who was then at the same gym as Jones, has not forgiven his former training partner for taking his title opportunity.
The Toronto show will also feature a heavyweight clash between Antonio Nogueira and Frank Mir in a rematch of the UFC 92 meeting won by Mir.
Other previously announced fights include light-heavyweights Krzysztof Soszynski and Igor Pokrajac; featherweights Mark (The Machine) Hominick and (The Korean Zombie) Chan Sung Jung; welterweights Rory (Ares) MacDonald and Brian (Bad Boy) Ebersole, and Claude (The Prince) Patrick and (Raging Bull) Rich Attonito; and lightweights Mitch Clarke and John Cholish, John (The Bull) Makdessi and Dennis (Superman) Hallman, and Mark Bocek and Nik (The Carny) Lentz.
