A 20-year-old Etobicoke woman is dead and three people have been injured after an early morning crash on Highway 401, near Islington Avenue.
Investigators say the crash happened about 1 a.m. this morning when a Honda Civic traveling westbound made a last minute attempt to exit to Highway 409 from the 401.
The car went out of control striking a crash barrier and then flipped onto its roof, police say.
The woman was thrown out of the car and pronounced dead at the scene. Other passengers were taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Police are looking into speed and alcohol as possible factors in the crash.
Highway 401 was closed for several hours but reopened before morning rush-hour.
