A 45-year-old woman from Toronto has been arrested and charged after a senior died following a hit-and-run in Scarborough’s Golden Mile area last month.
The collision happened on Jan. 9 near Warden Avenue and Eglinton Avenue East.
Toronto police said they were called to that area shortly before 2:15 p.m. for a personal injury collision.
They said the driver of a grey Volkswagen Atlas was travelling on Ashtonbee Road, east of Warden, when she turned into a shopping plaza.
While driving through the parking lot, the motorist allegedly struck an 87-year-old woman and fled the scene.
The victim was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. She died days later on Jan. 16.
Patricio Lo, 45, of Toronto was arrested on Tuesday.
She has been charged with dangerous operation of a conveyance cause death, fail to stop at accident scene cause bodily harm, where death ensued, and careless driving cause death (Highway Traffic Act).
Lo is scheduled to appear in court on April 15.
