Police are searching for at least three suspects after a woman and her dogs were found with gunshot wounds at a home in Nobleton, Ont. on Tuesday.
York Regional Police said they were called to a residence in the area of Highway 27 and King Vaughan Road at around 3:50 a.m.
Officers said the woman’s home was broken into by three armed suspects, who allegedly confronted her and shot her.
The suspects allegedly poured an accelerant throughout the residence and tried to ignite it.
Police said the suspects allegedly shot both of the victim’s dogs, killing one of them, before they drove away from the home in a dark-coloured sedan.
Police describe the three suspects as young men who were wearing dark clothing at the time. They added that at least two firearms were seen during the home invasion.
Officers added there were four other people at the home at the time, but no other injuries were reported.
Police believe this to be an isolated, targeted incident.
