Toronto man charged after allegedly shouting ‘threatening and homophobic slurs:’ police

Toronto police have arrested and charged a man who allegedly approached victims over the weekend, and “shouted threatening and homophobic slurs.”

On Saturday, at about 11:30 p.m., police were called to the area of Lake Shore Boulevard West and Bathurst Street for reports of a threatening.

Todd James Carmichael, 41, of Toronto, was subsequently arrested and charged with one count of fail to comply with release order and two counts of uttering death threats.

He was scheduled to appear in bail court on Sunday.

Police say this investigation is being treated as a suspected hate-motivated offence.
